U21 National Coach Stefan Kuntz assesses Germany’s World Cup Team

The final nomination of the German team members for the World Cup 2018 didn’t really surprise German U21 National Coach Stefan Kuntz: „Jogi Löw’s decisions for or against certain players are understandable”, says the fascinating Global Topspeaker and soccer expert. Every coach has a clear plan in mind when putting together a team, evaluates players according to criteria such as discipline, talent and also team spirit and weighs up the pros and cons.

For players Jonathan Tah, Nils Petersen, Bernd Leno and Leroy Sané, this evaluation ultimately resulted in the end of their dream of a participation in the World Cup – they will not travel to Russia with the German National Team. Stefan Kuntz felt particularly sorry for German Premier League player Jonathan Tah whom he knows from their numerous international U21 matches. And due to Tah’s injury last year, the head coach unfortunately had not been able take him along to Poland for the U21 European Championship then, either. „Now, the competition of experienced top players - such as Jérôme Boateng - for his position, simply was too strong“, says Stefan Kuntz.

Especially for young players such as those Kuntz coaches in the U21, the World Cup preparations and the training camp on the other hand represent a unique opportunity to get a whiff of the National Team, to learn a lot and to continue improving themselves. In his keynotes on trainee promotion and team building, the U21 National Coach talks about how to discover and develop such talents in business as well.

His inside knowledge is also in high demand for this year’s World Cup, however: On behalf of the German Soccer Association, DFB, Stefan Kuntz is travelling through Russia. At the same time, he is analysing the matches as the German broadcasting company ARD’s TV expert and is convinced that Jogi’s Eleven will go far. „With this high-calibre line-up, the German National Team definitely ranks among the top favourites.“
