His own true life story is awesome and is both inspirational and compelling. When he was 19 he was a famous climber in France, regularly featuring on the covers of its niche climbing magazines. However, a major fall in 1982 while assisting and saving a group of young climbers; left him in a coma for five days and with many broken bones.
After months in hospital undergoing numerous procedures, his surgeon, who was a climber too, told Alain he would never climb again. He said that in all his years he had never seen such a shattered body and hands. On leaving hospital Alain returned to his home town. His career was in ruins and he was profoundly weakened from his many injuries. Also, as a consequence of the fall, he was permanently 66 % disabled and suffered from vertigo and epilepsy.
After two weeks back at home feeling sorry for himself and with almost no strength whatsoever in his broken body, he decided he just had to do something to help speed up his recovery. If he had 34 % of his body still functioning, then he was determined to try to get the maximum from it. Today Robert is famous for his free solo climbing, scaling skyscrapers using no climbing equipment except for a small bag of chalk and a pair of climbing shoes. He has climbed landmarks including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Eiffel Tower, the Sydney Opera House and the Montparnasse Tower as well as the world's tallest skyscrapers.
Once you learn how he turned a hopeless situation and career ending injuries, into fame in 150 countries and great wealth, you will realise why no one else on earth has more right to motivate others than the incredible Spiderman Alain Robert. He has reached way past his dreams. His talks are fresh, exciting and truly inspirational.
