When his mother learned in 1996 that her son programs websites, she was appalled. Therefore, Alexander Wild founded the first German online club for people over 60 in 1998 – and became a laughing stock. In 1999, he hosted the symposium “Senioren agil – Wirtschaft senil?“, but the event had to be cancelled due to a lack of participants. And today? The internet pioneer remained faithful to the topics digitization and demographic change – and was right in doing so: Today, the Global Top Speaker Alexander Wild, who amongst other things managed the direct marketing of a big conference organizer before becoming self-employed, is regarded as a digital expert and as a profound connoisseur of the older generation in Germany. As founder and CEO of “Feierabend Online Dienste für Senioren AG”, he demonstrates both every day anew. His company advises SMEs and large companies from almost all consumer industries on the development of products and services and on marketing for older target groups. With the product tests by Feierabend-senior-scouts, Wild achieves the apparently impossible for his clients: the connection of market research, image advertising and product PR. Today, Feierabend.de is not only the oldest, but also the biggest German-speaking online network for people around 60 and was honored as “Best community in Germany” by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

For these achievements, Alexander Wild was designated “rebel of the internet” by Frankfurter Rundschau and Financial Times named him one of the “101 heads of the new economy”. A headline of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung read “Achieving success with ALDI principles” – Wild worked at ALDI after finishing his studies.

New survey: Alexander Wild explains what advertising works for seniors

Think first, buy later: senior citizens hardly ever get tempted to make impulse purchases. Alexander Wild, however, knows what is important to them when they do their shopping and what kind of advertising works for them. As an expert on marketing for senior citizens, the renowned Global Topspeaker has recently supported a new survey on the purchase behaviour of the 50+ generation. For the 2016 barometer on consumption, the Commerz Finanz GmbH had 10,500 consumers questioned all over Europe. Amongst others, the survey analysed which criteria are crucial for senior citizens when shopping.

For Europe’s economy, the consumer behaviour of the 50+ generation is of significant importance. It represents a lot of purchasing power, after all. A purchasing power that -due to the demographic change - will even rise in the years to come. But what is this age group spending their money for? This is exactly what the “2016 barometer of consumption – Europe” will tell us. In a transnational study, the Commerz Finanz GmbH in cooperation with the market research company BIPE has determined what is important to senior citizens when shopping. Keynote Speaker Alexander Wild was brought in as the competent expert for senior marketing. After all, hardly anybody knows the desires and habits of the best agers better than the renowned Global Topspeaker.
