Dr. Hubert Zitt is a tenured associate professor of information technology and electrotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences, Kaiserslautern, Zweibrücken location. He studied electrotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences in Kaiserslautern and afterwards at the Saarland University, where he attained a doctorate in the field of systems theory of electrotechnology. Since 1999 he has been teaching technical computer science and electrotechnology in Zweibrücken.

Since 1996 he has been working as a freelance book author in the fields of telephone technology, ISDN and DSL. For the year 2007 he received the Excellent Teaching Prize within the group of engineering sciences, endowed with 10.000 Euros. In the year 2008 he worked as a visiting professor at “The University of the Incarnate Word” in San Antonio, Texas, where he taught physics and computer programming languages.

Apart from his regular job, it was his Star Trek lectures that gained Global Top Speaker Hubert Zitt fame. His first presentation about Star Trek was announced as a “Christmas lecture” – a typically German custom of mixing science, humor and imagination before Christmas. A hundred years ago professors of chemistry would "make gold" or professors of mathematics prove on the blackboard that one equals zero, but meanwhile this tradition had started to fall into oblivion. So when he started to revive it and has been continuing to do so at the University of Applied Sciences in Zweibrücken since the year 1996. In 2005 he began to give Star Trek lectures also in other cities, mostly at universities but also on occasions like the FedCon, Europe's biggest Science Fiction Convention. Together with the son of the Star Trek inventor Gene Roddenberry he wrote the preface to the book „Star Trek in Germany“ in 2008. In the fall semester 2008 he taught "The Physics of Star Trek“ as a regular lecture at the above mentioned university in San Antonio, Texas.

In the TV-production "Beam me up! – The big Star Trek show“ from the year 2009, he explained the technologies of beaming and warp-drive in a guest role. Up to now Zitt has already given over 100 Star Trek lectures. Moreover, on developer symposiums of large companies his guest lectures, in which he always shows selected scenes demonstrating the technical possibilities in Star Trek, often serve as an inspiration for the employees.

For his "Star Trek” lectures, which combines technology and fun in a really extraordinary way, he received 2012 the award in the category "Most extraordinary speaker".
