At the age of 19 he already was an extremely famous climber in France. But, a major fall in 1982 while assisting and saving a group of young climbers; left him in a coma for five days and with many broken bones. As a consequence of the fall, he was permanently disabled to the extent of 66 % and suffered from vertigo and epilepsy. His career was in ruins.

But, with enormous mental strength the Spiderman decided: If he had 34 % of his body still functioning, then he was determined to try to get the maximum from it. He amazingly turned a hopeless situation and the end of his career into great fame in 150 countries.
