At the end of race season 2016 and after the FIA ERTC truck-racing European championship the former winner of the DTM Ellen Lohr retired from active motor racing. The Global Topspeaker drove with a MAN-Racing truck for the team Truck Sport Bernau and ended the season on the 9th place at the European championship overall ranking. But from now on Ellen Lohr participates actively in motorsport again and caused with this decision a little sensation. She will participate in all 13 races of the ELITE-1-Division of the NASCAR-Euroseries, the European NASCAR-offshot, for the Austrian racing team Df1.

“I watched the NASCAR-Euroseries in Zolder (Belgium). In this moment everything came together. The motorsport-gene and the passion never die. I am thrilled to participate in this ‘Old-School-motor racing’”, says the Global Topspeaker in an interview with motorsport.com. In February the first tests will take place in a Chevrolet Camaro with the number 99. The season kickoff of the NASCAR-Euroseries will be on the 13th and 14th of April in Valencia, Spain. After that the series travels to Italy, the UK and the Czech Republic. On the 21st and 22nd of September the ELITE-1-Division of the NASCAR-Euroseries visits the Hockenheimring.

“My long-term goal is to be on the podium. Nevertheless, I am realistically expecting a learning curve because of my lack of experience. Certainly, I won’t be able to compete with the top 3 at the beginning of the season. This would be a miracle, but I am ambitious to achieve my goal in the following season. Otherwise I wouldn’t participate”, added the motor racing legend Ellen Lohr. Also, the former Formula-1 pilot Jacques Villeneuve will be part of this racing-series. The big finale will take place in Zolder on the 5th and 6th of October.
