David Grier is a celebratory chef, author and extreme adventurer, an inspirational speaker having just completed the first solo run of India 4008 km in 93 days. Previous to this he has paddled from Africa to Madagascar (a distance of 500 km) and then ran the island from south to north, a distance of 2700 km. David did the first ever continuous joint run of the Great Wall of China, some 4200 km in 98 days. Plus the first ever continuous run along the coast of South Africa from Oranjemund via Cape Town to Mozambique, 3300 km in 80 days. He has also run from John O’Groats to lands End, the length of Ireland as well as Hadrian’s Wall.

Profil

These journeys are not about David himself, but he wanted to make a difference in the lives of children born with cleft lips and pallets. Through these journeys enough funding was raised to enable some 1800 children to receive corrective facial surgery through Operation Smile.

Over the past few years David Grier has learnt so much about life, not just the day to day lessons of how to survive, but deeper lessons, the lessons that leave scars deeply etched in ones mind, there is always that one crucial lesson that stands out after a journey. As an individual David has had to change in so many ways, but seeing the rewards that the process of change brings one, the crazy reward of hope that we have to hang onto every day of our lives if we want to remain positive about the future. In his lectures he illustrates that ones attitude and motivation are the fundamental core ingredients on how one approaches life and ultimately bears such influence on success at the end of the day.
