Ryan Joseph Giggs
Profil
Ryan Giggs’ talent was already evident in his childhood days: He stood out for his speed, agility and ball control. In 2007, one of his former teammates from Manchester United said about him: „When Ryan ran, he ran like the wind. He was so light on his feet, you couldn’t even hear him. He had this natural agility which - in relation to the ball - only the great players possess. Meaning no disrespect to David Beckham and Scholesy (Paul Scholes), but Ryan was the only one who always was a superstar.“ However, Giggs has never been aloof and always played for the team and the club.
The Global Topspeaker is a record hunter. He can look back on a career that brought him 34 titles. Amongst others, he won the English Championship 13 times, claimed the FA Cup four times and was a UEFA Champions League winner in 1999 and 2008. The Welshman was denied one record, however: As he „only“ made 141 appearances in the UEFA Champions League, he is one game behind record holder Raúl González. At the beginning of his career, Giggs was named „Young Player of the Year” twice. In 2009, he received the “Soccer Player of the Year” award. For his commitment as UNICEF ambassador – in particular in the fight against landmines - Queen Elizabeth II made Giggs an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2007. This underlines the remarkable personality of extraordinary soccer player Ryan Giggs.
